Florida, Always in My Heart
Owning a Tiny Bit of Florida Since my first visit to Florida, I have always longed to be there. Florida is always in my heart. Thanks to Roger’s parents, we now own a tiny bit of Florida! This has been a dream of mine since I was 14. Words cannot even express how happy I am when we walk into our place after suffering through our cold Kentucky winters. The First Time I Fell In Love Florida The first time I visited Florida I was 14 years old. It was 1973. All six of us piled into my parent’s station wagon and traveled from Louisville, Kentucky to Tampa to meet…

Exploring The Islands
Once we explored the ship thoroughly and settled in after the long day of travel, we enjoyed our glass of wine on the pool deck, watching St Maarten fade into the distance. We were on our way to sea. The next item on our agenda, exploring the Caribbean islands. Click HERE to see part 1. Antigua When we awoke the next morning we rushed to the main deck to get a glimpse of our first stop. There were only a handful of guest awake. It was quiet and we could see the sun popping up behind the hills of Antigua. We breathed in the fresh sea air and stood in…

Sailing Through Paradise
Calming waters, sails blowing in the wind, beautiful scenery and the most amazing staff we have ever met accompanied us on our Windstar cruise through paradise. Just breathing in the sea air was music to my soul! We were finally sailing through paradise. Beginning Our Year with Wind Surf Roger and I decided that we would ease into our 60th year of life with an amazing trip to the British Virgin Islands. We sailed on the Wind Surf, which is a small luxury sailing yacht, holding only approximately 300 passengers. First, I must say that I would definitely take this cruise again. The experience was one we could never forget.…

My Fear of Aging and How Do I Accept Change?
Throughout my life I have always feared change. I guess FEAR is not the right word. I should say I have avoided change to the best of my ability. I get comfortable in my life and when there are disruptions or hurdles to cross, it throws me off. These changes knock me out of my comfort zone. I know I am not alone. Surely most of us go through these times. I have a fear of aging. In the later years of life I prided myself on how I jumped right into the fire and dealt with the hurdles or lessons of life and came out on the other side…

A Perfect Maui Trip Ending
Roger and I remained on the Island for two extra days after our friends and family flew home. There were more wonders to see, more amazing secrets to be discovered. We decided to create our perfect Maui ending. Lahaina and Kaanapali Our planned destination was a drive up the north western coast of Maui. The first stop was Lahaina. Neither of us knew where this road would lead but we felt adventurous and decided to trust that there was beauty to be revealed around every corner. We made a wrong turn once but at the end of the road we were able to look down at Lahaina Beach in all…

Exploring Maui, Part 3
DAY 4 After the excitement of the last few days, it was time to relax and truly see what Maui held in store for us. The Island has an incredible spiritual or magical feeling that I can’t really put into words. It’s just something that needs to be experienced in person. Exploring Maui was next on our agenda. The morning after the wedding ceremony, Roger and I grabbed our Starbucks coffee and took a stroll down the Wailea Beach walking path that connects all of the resorts in Wailea Beach. The next resort over was The Grand Wailea, Waldorf Astoria Resort. It was absolutely stunning! I enjoyed strolling through the resort grounds and…

Maui Trip – Part 2
Day Three, Countdown to the Destination Wedding Day three was a busy day for the group. Since I was with the ‘Father of the Bride’, I quietly sat back and listened for my instructions. No need to get in the way! But what an amazing place to be quietly sitting back and waiting for my chance to help. This night was the rehearsal dinner. We were going to a Luau! It’s Maui Luau Day for our group. Te Au Moana Luau Time There couldn’t be a better way to experience a rehearsal dinner than at a Luau! The Wailea Beach Resort puts on an amazing Luau and it was right…

The Ultimate Hawaiian Trip Part 1
We hadn’t intended on visiting Hawaii. It is so far from our home and the long flight was something we were not wanting to experience, despite the fact that Maui was supposed to be pretty close to paradise. Roger was the father of the bride and it was a destination wedding, so we decided to make it a great adventure. Despite our exhaustion after traveling across the country and over the ocean , once we arrived in Maui, we knew we had stepped into paradise! We were part of a destination wedding and there could not have been a better location for their marriage to begin. Wailea Beach was our…

Surviving Aches and Pains
Life can become so busy that without realizing it we (actually I meant to say “I”) start to neglect projects, family and friends. But more important, I begin neglecting myself. I don’t take the time to listen to my mind or my body. And then one day it starts screaming at me and I can’t ignore it any longer. I am searching for a way to survive with my aches and pains. A New Year It’s 2019 and I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions. They never last for more than a few weeks or months. But this year MUST be different. It will be my 60th year on this…
