    Weekend Trip to Huntington Beach

We had such an amazing weekend with family in California! Our weekend trip to Huntington Beach was a perfect getaway. It’s what my soul needed. I longed to just sit on the opposite side of the country soak in the sun, the sea and enjoy life for a moment. Our Arrival We arrived at the Hyatt Regency, Huntington Beach early in the morning before check in. They were very gracious in letting us store our luggage and head to the pool area to wait for our rooms to be available. We were able to change and find a nice area to sit, relax and enjoy the water while we waited…

    Stay-cation In My Own Backyard

I love summer! And I love traveling in the summer. There is nothing more exciting to me than spending a week on a beach under an umbrella with a good book and a pina colada! But one of these summers, I need to slow the pace down a little and remember that there are many things to do right in my own backyard! I’ve heard that stay-cations are nice, so I have tried to wrap my head around it. Let’s see what I can do without jumping on an airplane. So if I do decide to experience what it’s like to just relax in my own city, I would need…

    Visiting Chicago in Winter

Chicago in the winter? Yes, it’s cold, it’s snowy, it’s icy and the wind cuts through your clothes like a knife. But it’s also amazing if you take the time to bundle up and enjoy the sights despite the cold. I have been to Chicago in all seasons and all types of weather. I love them all. Winter is no exception. Each season brings its own memories and adventures. Amazing Views We were finally able to get to the Light Festival last year. And I am so glad we did. It was a great adventure for us. My children and grandchildren were with us. We had adjoining rooms in the…

Always Something to Do in St Pete Beach, Florida –

We call it home. It’s our home away from home really, but the second we cross over the Pinellas Bayway and see the Don Cesar looming ahead of us in all of it’s pink glory, we breathe in the salty sea air and say “we are home”.  This is part of our heart and soul.  It’s where we long to be during the rest of the year when we are in Louisville with the freezing cold February’s that seem to last an entire year! Our quaint little place is across the street from the beach. It sits on the Boca Ciega Bay side on the 3rd floor. We can watch…

    Florida, Always in My Heart

Owning a Tiny Bit of Florida Since my first visit to Florida, I have always longed to be there. Florida is always in my heart. Thanks to Roger’s parents, we now own a tiny bit of Florida! This has been a dream of mine since I was 14. Words cannot even express how happy I am when we walk into our place after suffering through our cold Kentucky winters. The First Time I Fell In Love Florida The first time I visited Florida I was 14 years old. It was 1973. All six of us piled into my parent’s station wagon and traveled  from Louisville, Kentucky to Tampa to meet…

    Exploring The Islands

Once we explored the ship thoroughly and settled in after the long day of travel, we enjoyed our glass of wine on the pool deck, watching St Maarten fade into the distance. We were on our way to sea. The next item on our agenda, exploring the Caribbean islands. Click HERE to see part 1. Antigua When we awoke the next morning we rushed to the main deck to get a glimpse of our first stop. There were only a handful of guest awake. It was quiet and we could see the sun popping up behind the hills of Antigua. We breathed in the fresh sea air and stood in…

    Sailing Through Paradise

Calming waters, sails blowing in the wind, beautiful scenery and the most amazing staff we have ever met accompanied us on our Windstar cruise through paradise. Just breathing in the sea air was music to my soul! We were finally sailing through paradise. Beginning Our Year with Wind Surf Roger and I decided that we would ease into our 60th year of life with an amazing trip to the British Virgin Islands. We sailed on the Wind Surf, which is a small luxury sailing yacht, holding only approximately 300 passengers. First, I must say that I would definitely take this cruise again. The experience was one we could never forget.…

    A Perfect Maui Trip Ending

Roger and I remained on the Island for two extra days after our friends and family flew home. There were more wonders to see, more amazing secrets to be discovered. We decided to create our perfect Maui ending. Lahaina and Kaanapali Our planned destination was a drive up the north western coast of Maui. The first stop was Lahaina. Neither of us knew where this road would lead but we felt adventurous and decided to trust that there was beauty to be revealed around every corner. We made a wrong turn once but at the end of the road we were able to look down at Lahaina Beach in all…

    Exploring Maui, Part 3

DAY 4 After the excitement of the last few days, it was time to relax and truly see what Maui held in store for us. The Island has an incredible spiritual or magical feeling that I can’t really put into words. It’s just something that needs to be experienced in person. Exploring Maui was next on our agenda. The morning after the wedding ceremony, Roger and I grabbed our Starbucks coffee and took a stroll down the Wailea Beach walking path that connects all of the resorts in Wailea Beach. The next resort over was The Grand Wailea, Waldorf Astoria Resort. It was absolutely stunning! I enjoyed strolling through the resort grounds and…
