    Time Well Spent?

When I was working a full time job I always longed for extra time. Time to travel, to paint, to write. Time to do the things I longed for but work got in the way. So during this pandemic of 2020, was my time well spent? The answer is no. Working Remotely In March of 2020 we were forced to slow down. Most were sent home with our work and our computers. Those of us who juggled traffic to and from work with demanding jobs were asked to re-create what a work day would look like from home. It’s not easy taking care of the needs of students and faculty…

    Weekend Trip to Huntington Beach

We had such an amazing weekend with family in California! Our weekend trip to Huntington Beach was a perfect getaway. It’s what my soul needed. I longed to just sit on the opposite side of the country soak in the sun, the sea and enjoy life for a moment. Our Arrival We arrived at the Hyatt Regency, Huntington Beach early in the morning before check in. They were very gracious in letting us store our luggage and head to the pool area to wait for our rooms to be available. We were able to change and find a nice area to sit, relax and enjoy the water while we waited…

    Emergence – Back to Life

It’s been a long year. Our world has been dragged into the depths of hybernation and soul searching. I feel that it’s time to come back to life. This past week I experienced a healing of my soul and an emergence. Cycles and Changes Every living thing experiences cycles and changes. There is the ebb and flow of the tides, the hibernation of plants and animals in the winter, the rebirth of these beings in the spring. It’s a part of life that we cannot ignore. Everyone has been affected by the quarantine and the economy and politics! Yet we all have choices when it comes to how we recover…

    Wishing For Something

Sometimes I start wishing for something and then realize that I put that thought out there to be manifested. These wishes can be just random or something that I truly want. I need to be more careful in the future. Be Careful What I Wish For It is always my wish that there will be a few decent snows during the winter months. I work at a university and when the public school system is closed…. so are we! The past two years we have not had enough snow to call for closings so those much wished for surprise days off have been missed. Three months ago I realized the…

Sixty and Free to Just Be!

The Year of Turning Sixty I’m officially a Crone! I can now say that I have reached the phase of life where I can be considered a crone or wise woman. And it is amazing! After my 60th birthday, I was too busy to realize that I was actually sixty!!! Six months later, I am realizing what this means. It’s a huge deal! It’s the beginning of a sort of ‘freedom’. I am free to just be! My kids are grown and my work life is winding down. I find it very exciting but at the same time I didn’t think it would feel different. It definitely does! Focusing on…

    Movement of Life – Update

Life is filled with surprises, endings, new beginnings and unexpected journeys. We need to be ready in a moment’s notice to embrace what’s to come! I started to title this “New Beginnings” but “Movement of Life” seems more freeing! Not So Good With Change I have been licking my wounds and trying to see the good in weeks of not so great! After all of the hurdles and paths I have been down over the years, all of the self help and therapy, I honestly thought that I would be good with change. I thought I was truly prepared for anything that life threw at me. At 59 years old,…

    Stay-cation In My Own Backyard

I love summer! And I love traveling in the summer. There is nothing more exciting to me than spending a week on a beach under an umbrella with a good book and a pina colada! But one of these summers, I need to slow the pace down a little and remember that there are many things to do right in my own backyard! I’ve heard that stay-cations are nice, so I have tried to wrap my head around it. Let’s see what I can do without jumping on an airplane. So if I do decide to experience what it’s like to just relax in my own city, I would need…

    Visiting Chicago in Winter

Chicago in the winter? Yes, it’s cold, it’s snowy, it’s icy and the wind cuts through your clothes like a knife. But it’s also amazing if you take the time to bundle up and enjoy the sights despite the cold. I have been to Chicago in all seasons and all types of weather. I love them all. Winter is no exception. Each season brings its own memories and adventures. Amazing Views We were finally able to get to the Light Festival last year. And I am so glad we did. It was a great adventure for us. My children and grandchildren were with us. We had adjoining rooms in the…

Always Something to Do in St Pete Beach, Florida –

We call it home. It’s our home away from home really, but the second we cross over the Pinellas Bayway and see the Don Cesar looming ahead of us in all of it’s pink glory, we breathe in the salty sea air and say “we are home”.  This is part of our heart and soul.  It’s where we long to be during the rest of the year when we are in Louisville with the freezing cold February’s that seem to last an entire year! Our quaint little place is across the street from the beach. It sits on the Boca Ciega Bay side on the 3rd floor. We can watch…

    STILLNESS

Here we go again! I sought out this post from last year so that I could be reminded that there is light at the end of the tunnel.  There is stillness at the end of the madness! My Commencement planning starts in November but it builds like a snowball rolling down a mountain. I will soon be in the midst of the madness and I love it. I wouldn’t change a thing. But I need to remember to take care of myself in these upcoming weeks. The Reward It’s so rewarding when I watch our students walk down the aisle to receive their diplomas. Even if there are glitches, we…
